What Sort of table is this please

I spotted this table in a homeless persons shelter and I am in the process of rescuing it, the charity dont want it, it came with the house a victorian mansion. It looks mahogany and weighs a ton, it is roughly 2-2.5 feet deep and 4 foot long. I was thinking console table or buffet maybe the top has roughly 1 foot wide pieces each end with 4 planks laid across the top in between. does anyone have any ideas about this piece please (I didnt move the abandonned stuff on top as I dont know what was in it)
