Thread: Pillow top arms out of style?

Default Pillow top arms out of style?

I have noticed that the better brand furniture does not have any pillow top arms on the sofas, chairs, or recliners. Why is this? Is to do with style or construction quality? Thanks so much.

Its Joe Six-Pak. Out-of-style most definitely.

Neither I, nor my husband are Joe six packs, however, we voted for Sarah Palin. Seriously, we use our den sofa to lounge on. My husband is an engineer/manager for his company , and I am a retired teacher, but we don't care about being in vogue. (We love vintage/antiques and our formal living/dining room is furnished with them.) But our den is where we live and we look for comfort, and we find pillow top arms very comfortable. We are concerned about their durability. Input on durability/construction of the design is needed. Thanks again

I'm sorry, I thought you asked about style in your original post.

Durability on these are fine. I've never seen any failures of the top 'pads' on any recliner that was given reasonable cleaning care.

Thanks Duane. Do you know of a good recliner that would have these outdated pillow top arms?

H&M rolled out one at Market this week, and it was the only new piece I didn't particularly care for. It put my legs up high when reclined (I have a # 1044 Sadler at home which is much lower in leg height) and I have to admit I'm not crazy about the style (showing my bias!). I didn't particularly like the Flexsteel ones i used to carry, either.

    Here's a photo of the new H&M unit, model # 3015.

That looks nice. What are the dimensions both inside and outside? Better yet, can you posts the specs on it? Do you sell and ship to Arkansas?

    note post above

Have there been any problems with the mechanism handle?
i am not familiar with anything but a lever handle. I looked on HM website and couldn't find this chair. Give me so ideas on prices. Of course, I'm looking for protected leather again.

You won't find that ANYWHERE but here! Its brand new from H&M and it will be several weeks before its on their website, or other dealers have an information on it unless they hand-carried it back from Market like I did.

I have the outside dimensions on it, but no inside information:

    42" H
    40" W
    41" D

    Price in a class 1 leather is $ 1,862. In class 2 $ 2,044.

Shipping to AR via West Expess (in-home delivery service) would be about $ 175.

No issues at all with mechanism handles. Never had the first failure or problem with them.

    Hello Webfeet
I would like to say that your original comment is very important. You said that you noticed that none of the better brands had pillow tops. This should tell you something. Have you considered just using accessory pillows that are comfortable, much more attractive, and can be changed out when they get worn? As far as recliners go, there are many good quality recliners that have bustle backs that don't look "Joe Sixpack." Just a thought.
