Default Hancock and Moore construction techniques

    some questions

    1) are the frames solid hardwood, or a combination of pine and hardwood. If all hardwood, what type is used?

    2) what type of wood is used in the legs?

    3) who does the detail carving? some of the pieces look done by hand, others look like machine work

    thanks

    Missed this one!

    1) Yes, the frames are hardwood. Most have maple frames, some of the carved ones are mahogany. No pine at all in the frames (too soft, and it tends to split on structural fitments). I've seen a few pieces at H&M (motion furniture) that use some engineered plywood in them, but not as main frame components.

    2) Maple or Mahogany (mostly maple)

    3) Carvings are going to be machine / CNC or laser cut. if they were truly hand-carved prices would be through the roof and more like these pieces where a small sofa is close to $ 10K:
