As I'm on the way to work this morning I'm at the stoplight for Telegraph Road and see two cyclists coming side by side up the steep hill to Whernside Ave. I notice the nearest rider has an unusual cadence rather than the smooth, non-warbling motion most decked-out riders have. I mentally attribute that to the steepness of this segment and he's probably tired, plus its extremely hot and humid and that would wilt anyone. As they pass in front of my car I see the reason for his uneven cadence. The one cyclist has only one leg, his right leg is totally gone at the hip. The other cyclist on the far side is encouraging him to keep going. I fumbled for my phone and this is the best shot I could get as they went by.

I will never again complain about how steep a hill is when I am on a bicycle. RESPECT.
