Sorry, I may have read it wrong, it seemed like you were set on getting a large sectional down there. I am in New England and every basement has an entry from inside the house and either a "walk out" like you mention (quite common here, actually) or a basement "hatchway". I actually thought it was code for fire reasons. Obviously I was very wrong. I removed some my comments, and I apologise for the tone. I should have reread that before I posted it. Sorry about that. Oh, there's a chance they will go in, but you need a plan if it doesn't. Are you willing to take that risk? If you are, we can move forward on it. I never make guarantees of being able to fit through, too many variables and you only have to miss by 1/2" for it to not go.

The call I don't want to get is "They tried and it won't go in and there is a 2" gash in the leather and a hole in my drywall. What are you going to do for me now?"

And I have had a lot of those calls! That's why a local buy is best for you, with return privileges or use Simplicity Sofas that assemble in the basement. That 90 degree turn is always brutal.

Loca buy, floor model, absolutely no issue getting it down. Future reference for H&M Your Way shoppers concernd about a narrow stairwell with a 90 degree turn.
