Color fade/wear on arm

I’ve got a Smith Brothers recliner that is starting to get a little fade in the color on top of arm from wear. I’ll admit before I got on this forum I didn’t know you were supposed to clean/condition leather regularly. Would this have prevented this fade? Can faded color like this be touched up with some leather creams normally used on shoes to bring back the color? Any other help/ideas/suggestions? I’d like to do what I can to prevent further fade or restore if possible. Thanks!
