I feel it's so important to check out a recliner for weight issues before you purchase one. Although recliners today are very well built, they are not all made for large weights unless you search for a specific one that is. There's nothing more frustrating than buying a recliner that breaks while it's brand new!
Most recliners with decent mechs are designed for up to 300 lb usage weight. Beyond that, you will want reinforced frames and ALWAYS a power recliner, never manual. You want that motor to open and close the mechanism, not the shock of manual operation which tends to start and stop abruptly.
