Utterly Boring New Leathercraft Piece

Leathercraft rolled this out as a new item this fall and the sale rep showed it to me yesterday. I took one look at it and thought, 'How Bland'. Straight slab cuts, all those leathers seams lined up at 90 degrees vertical. Ugh!

You know how easy it would be to make this into a cool piece? Put some button tufting on it! Get rid of those seams. Instead of straight rows of nails how about a scroll design using the nail trim? Change leathers up, too. Some decorative embossed leathers would be very much fun.
