Thos Moser closing his Wash DC Retail Store
Another one bites the dust...
Thos Moser is closing his Georgetown (Wash DC) location with the last day open of June 9th. They have a GREAT location (I'm envious) and its a shame that a city as large as Washington DC couldn't support this small specialty retail storefront. This continues to be a tough business to be in, and stores are still closing because the volume of sales needed just isn't enough to keep the doors open.
I often wish I could move to a better part of the city, with a showroom twice the size of what I have now. But when I read about things like this, it gives me pause to even think about expanding and taking on higher overhead costs. If don't get the support from the community in the form of sales, then you soon go under and have to pack it in, like Thos. Moser in this location.

All those rich people and what are they buying? Probably Pottery Barn....

I was in Old Town tonight and Conrad's has a "Store Closing" sign out front also.

Although I hate to see local businesses close, I am not too surprised. I could never quite figure that store out....

I'm not surprised. Conrad's is right at the largest tourist intersection in Olde Town Alexandria. And very difficult for locals to shop there as well as virtually impossible to get a truck to the door except in the wee hours of the night. They should have sold ice cream and cupcakes in that space - they'd be lined up out the door then.
