H&M Antelope leather opinion needed
Has anyone seen a H&M piece in the Antelope Nugget leather? I appears to be a dark brown, but looks a little ashy/grayed-down in some light. I am terrified that a whole chair will not look like a rich brown but morph into an odd color that I could not predict from a small sample. This protected leather is so soft that I am seriously considering it but I'm stressing over the color. Please help if you have seen an actual furniture piece in this color. Thanks.
follow up leather questions
Thanks Duane. Although the two Antelope samples I have look smooth and fairly even in color, the description states that it is variegated with "scars and markings evident," which is not at all evident on the samples. Does anyone know in how marked up the Antelope turns out, in general?
Which, if any of these, are aniline dyed: Antelope, Auburn, Savannah, Document,or Equestrian?
Thanks for the information. It would be nice to have a good idea of what I am buying as it is a significant amount of money.

Antelope sample that isn't blonde on the back?

I have a large sample of antelope saddle (5032) and a small one of antelope nugget (5029). The saddle is blonde on the back, but the color is consistent dark brown throughout the nugget. Also, the saddle sample is quite shiny and the nugget sample has a much more matte appearance.
I would have thought that my nugget sample was a mistake, but a dealer sample that I saw in a local store matched the one that I have. It was very difficult for us to tell the difference between it and the Capri with the dealer samples. (I acutally thought that theirs was a mistake -- this is why I ordered my own sample ).
My "large" nugget sample is the size of a small dealer sample that would live on a ring (my Capri sample is "large" too) and my "small" nugget one is just a little bit bigger than the H&M sticker.
Duane, can you pose the "is that 5029 right?" question to H&M and also have them send me a dealer-size sample so that I can have a better idea of Capri vs Antelope before I arrive in June? Better to have my decision anxiety occur in my own home than in your store :).
Thanks!

H&M Woodbridge recliner in Antelope
barbja
I finally ordered the Woodbridge recliner in Antelope nugget, and was quite relieved that the chair matched the sample cutting I waited so long for before placing an order. I will attempt to post a photo for you. (I had to re-register under Martha2 because I had trouble posting under my original Martha account for some reason). After reading the description of the leather I was fearful that it would be very different than the store sample, but it was very similar. It is very soft and smooth, with almost no markings. The color is a rich dark brown, without any orangey/red tones despite what the photo may imply. I am including a close-up of the leather just for you to see the wiped two tone effect (again, very subtle in person), but the photo shows a warmer redish tone that is not accurate. THe photo of the whole chair seems accurate to me in color. I am very pleased, as I was very stressed out over the disclaimers that the finished product could vary from the sample.

Photo of the same chair, 22 years old
Took a photo today of my Hancock and Moore Recliner that I bought in 1987. It was my first leather purchase. This has not been babied in any way, BUT I have always kept the leather clean and wiped down. As you can see, its a long ways from being worn out and I expect to get another 22 years out of it.
