Temporary Caster disable technique while our child learns to walk
Hello All,
We have a your way sofa sized ottoman in the casters format (wheels underneath instead of feet). While I like the flexibility this offers...our little one is going to be crawling soon and eventually walking...so we don't want him to fall while stabilizing himself on this mobile ottoman. We also don't want him pushing it into the wall or couch or otherwise damaging the ottoman itself.
Anyone with some clever tips on how to tastefully and temporarily lock the casters or otherwise stop it from rolling?
The ottoman does sit on carpet which does slow it down a bit...but not enough for us.
Happy New Years Eve to everyone!!

I think I would buy some bracket legs and install them so the roller casters no longer have contact with the floor.

I don't know if they have any that would fit, but if they do you could just slip some brass leg covers over the wheels and remove them later.

I didn't know such things existed, Sue! Good idea!

My only concern would be scratching the finish on the leg, so I would try to get a slightly wider one that needed and wrap the leg in something before putting it on. I would be interested in knowing if they try it and if it works or not.

I will keep you posted. Haven't made any decision yet. Our little dude keeps us quite busy haha.
Hope everyone had a nice New Years!
