More Price Increases

One of the most difficult things we are experiencing in our store is keeping up with frequent price increases. Pre-Covid, we used to see one a year or less. Now it seems the norm is three to four increases per year. It has become so bad that the suppliers are not even printing price books at this time to save the cost of printing, it all comes to us digitally on a spreadsheet. And of course, the tags on pieces in the store do not reflect the current order prices, we simply cannot retag the entire store 4x a year.

Tomorrow, June 1st the new Bradington Young prices go into effect. Today is the last day to order on current pricing.

Century is increasing prices on Monday, June 27th.

If Century is increasing - then all their brands under their label are probably going to as well. Expect higher prices on Hancock and Moore, and Jessica Charles in the not too distant future is my guess.

At the store level, we are seeing a huge increase on inbound freight pricing, due to the price of diesel fuel and shortage of drivers. While we haven't put a surcharge on pieces coming to the store, I feel we probably will have to shortly. Pre-pandemic, we could land a sofa from North Carolina for $ 85, today its $ 150. A recliner used to be $ 60, now its $ 110. Even at our local delivery level, we are paying $ 50 more a tank to fuel our delivery trucks. All that affects the bottom line.
