Does anyone know how to remove the back of a Hancock and Moore recliner back? I'm trying to get the chair into the basement and the path isn't wide enough for the chair.

The back does not come off, sorry. It is integrated into the entire mechanism platform.
If you decide to try to carry the recliner into your basement fully extended, be very, very careful to not hold it by the footrest which is where most people grab it. In fact, remove the footrest entirely with the four bolts securing it is my recommendation. The mechanism can, and does bend if you have the chair extended and carry by the footrest. Then you will need a new mechanism!
Thanks. I guess the catch to a well made recliner is sometimes that it's really well made.
We tend to go to Fjord's brand recliners where there are tight fitments, as they are shipped to us with the backs OFF and an easy 1 minute attachment. Plus they sit very well, I have one in my basement area.
