On any leather hide, there is salvage waste of 22 % to 30 % of the leather, that cannot be used in production of the piece due to flaws, wrinkles, defects, or brands. What do they do with that salvage? They make dealer swatches out of them.
Here's one that came in a new batch of leathers from Bradington-Young today. It's where they branded the cow.
