Default Shallow / loose tufting on Century sofa

    Hello,
I recently took delivery of a tufted leather Century sofa that I ordered a few months ago. Im noticing the tufting on the back seems shallow / understuffed - not nearly as plush or 3D as I was expecting. Is this normal or did I somehow get unlucky with this purchase? Pic attached and happy to provide more photos or info upon request.
Thanks in advance for any input!

As I have said many times in this forum "No one does tufts like Hancock and Moore". I also sold Century and though a similar price point to H&M I never found them to be their equal, which is probably why I never posted high sales volume numbers with them. Its hard to get excited about a product when you know a better one exists for same money. What you have is typical for a Century tufted piece, I don't think there is any workmanship issue or fault, that's just how they do it.

I also think Century was always envious of how H&M did their pieces as well, which is why they bought Hancock and Moore in 2016 when the founders retired and the opportunity arose to acquire the best leather upholsterer in the USA. If you can''t beat 'em ....buy them!

    Hi Duane,
Thank you for taking the time to reply to my question.

Do you think the “looseness” of the tufting will become worse over time?

I wish I’d discovered this forum 6 months ago. Knowing what I know now, I may have opted for a HM piece instead. Other than the tufting and a small bit of damage that looks like it was due to a shipping mishap, the rest of the sofa looks pretty good.
I used to own a vintage Henredon chesterfield and that thing was immaculate in its prime - like flawlessly perfect tufting. I’m not sure Henredon is around anymore though…

    Thanks again!

I've never seen tufting shift or become problematic over time, though buttons themselves can - and do - become loose and should be repaired before they come lost.
