I recently purchased two Fjords swivel relaxers (Milan and Dallas) from a local furniture store. They were display models that I got for a significant discount. The manufacture dates are 2022, so they were likely sitting in the showroom for 2 years. After having them for a few weeks I've noticed there are divots in the seats of both chairs, one worse than the other. These have molded foam cushions so I'm not totally sure if it's worn out foam or if it's just how they're supposed to be shaped. They were almost certainly like this when I bought them, I just hadn't noticed until sitting for longer periods and becoming uncomfortable. The lumbar on the Dallas doesn't feel right either, almost like the mechanism is poking through the foam on the sides. This has me thinking about the warranty. Fjords says this:
5-years warranty – Molded Foam, Wood components, Gas Cylinders and all Cables. Molded cushions are warranted against collapsing for a period of 5 years. Loss of foam resiliency should not be confused with softening of foam which results from normal wear and tear.
I can hardly understand the difference between softening of foam and loss of resilience. It seems like it's purposely left open to interpretation to avoid having to warranty foam unless it literally turns to dust within 5 years. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with Fjords warranty and how it went. They say warranties are handled through the retailer.
Side note, the retailer had tags on all of the Fjords chairs that said "made in Norway". I knew that was not likely true, in fact they are made in Thailand with Chinese made Leggett & Platt mechanisms.
