Southampton by Southwood

Hello! I found this Southampton dresser at a local antique store. From my reading of this forum, I see Duane Collie has identified Southampton as a line of furniture by Southwood furniture co, which I see closed in 2014. The dresser has a deep scratch on the top and the back leg needs to be reattached but overall it was too good to pass up for only $90! I’m curious if anyone can gauge what the original retail price would’ve been on this? Any thoughts on the type of wood? Also I welcome any tips on how I can fix this deep scratch. Thank you!

That’s veneer. A pro can fix that scratch but you won’t be able to.
