    Default Ostrich and Buffalo

I read a post where you mentioned Ostrich and Bison leathers.

I found the one class 5 Ostrich but nothing in buffalo. I believe Ostrich is one of the tougher more durable leathers while still being also soft. (If that's real Ostrich!+

When I lived in NY I used to buy water buffalo wallets, brief cases and some clothing. It was the most durable leather I've ever owned. It was soft, felt great and wore like iron. American buffalo is good leather but not nearly as durable as the Asian Water Buffalo is. I've also had several Ostrich pieces over the years and they held up well also.

Ostrich has a lot of natural oils in the skin, which may be removed during tanning, but I read somewhere that aniline unprotected Ostrich doesn't stain as easily as aniline leather.

It looks like H&M only offers Ostrich in one color.

    No water buffalo I guess!

A class 5 Austin Couch would go for around $4000?

Of the exotics, the REAL ones are like this:

Deerskin: the real deal, super soft, super easy to stain. More fragile than cowhide.

    Lambskin: Same as above.

Bison: American Bison. Tough, Rough, Thick. Grainy. Pebbly

Bighorn: Great hide, but only in black. Very different and from the Bighorn Sheep

Bozeman harness: Heavy duty saddle leather.

Brahama: Water Buffalo. Partial hair on hide

    Ostrich: Simulated, embossed cowhide.

    A class 5 Austin? $ 4,886!
