Default Was asbestos ever used as furniture backing

Hello I just purchased a chair from a yard sale and when I got it started taking it apart there is a fiberous brown material over the springs could this be asbestos or does anyone know what it is. Any info would appreciated.

Its impossible to determine asbestos in anything without a lab test, but I think its a safe bet that its not in a piece of upholstery...theres no need for the properties of asbestos in that kind of use. Without photos, I can only guess you're looking at a fibrous stiffening pad.
