    Default Kittinger Dining Table

    Another Kittinger question.

A friend of mine needs a smaller-than-usual dining table and he came across this oval Kittinger table. It's 30"hx48.5"x36.5"d. There is also one leaf which extends the table to 60" The seller is asking $425.00, and says that it appears to be made of cedar. It's an unusual grain, in any case.

    A couple of questions:

Do you think this is solid wood?

    Is the price good?

Buy it....buy it....buy it.....buy it..... $ 425??? If your friend doesn't want it, I do. That's a NEW YORK made Kittinger, done with a veneer top, but the veneer looks in great shape. Where do you keep finding this high-end furniture for cheap?

To give you an idea of the deal, to replicate that table as new would cost appx 10x that.

    Thank you, Duane!!!

If he doesn't buy it, I probably will. If I don't buy it, I'll email you the link.

Do you think it's made of cedar? What is that wood, anyway?

Its hard for me to tell the wood, but I doubt its cedar. Probably a variation on crotch mahogany, but its veneer, not solids.

Another question: Is veneer a lower quality than solid wood?

Oh, and in answer to your question: I'm really, really good at using the internet. Let me know what you want and I'll find it for you.

Here's another Kittinger deal I found. I mean, it's $3500 (regular price with this seller: $7,500). In "excellent" condition. New, I think it costs around $20,000 (if I'm not mistaken). Are you looking for a desk, per chance? I'd love it, but it's a bit over the top of my budget.
