New leather, Spring 2010...very similar to Kipling. A light Pull-up, waxy finish. Nice hide, Price Grade 2.

Duane,
What can you tell me about country of origin and finishes on Kipling Whiskey and Yardley Cognac? These two colors do seem similar in the real-life photos I've seen on the forum, and they're the shade of intensity of brighter brown I'm considering on either Lakota or Parisian (still trying to decide on the actual couch model).
Thanks!
Kipling Whiskey I have on my own recliner at home (a 1044 Sadler) and I've owned it about 5 years now. Its a leather that comes either from Italy or China (depending on the batch, the tannery had two facilities) and believe it or not the hides from China are most quality consistent. However, you can't spec the batch and you get what you get with it. I'd not hesitate to buy it again, the color is rich and the leather feels great, and the fact its a GR 2 in price is all the better.
Yardley Cognac is a South American hide and is inconsistent from batch to batch. This one gives me pause because I've seen it come in drop-dead gorgeous and then another piece will follow it a few months later and it can look dry, brittle and unimpressive. Its the variation on Yardley that makes me a little gun shy on it. When its good, its very - very good , and when its not good its just marginal.
I have photos of a Sundance Sectional that just came in done in Kipling Whiskey. I will try to get them posted later today.

Thank you both Duane and hglaber. That helps immensely. It seems the Kipling has less of the stretched look to it - what I'd call "distressed" (though I know it's not necessarily distressed). I'll watch for the photos of the Sundance.
Thanks,
Caroline
