We are looking for a couple of new recliners and are considering going the leather route. It seems like the gold standard - H&M - might be out of our budget range. We're on the smaller size, and it's hard to find a comfortable chair that allows our feet to touch the floor.
One chair that fits, both in comfort and style, is the Rutherford Leather Lounge Recliner by Hooker. It's on sale at Macy's for $1000. I am waiting for a call back about the leather, frame construction, and mechanism. However, you probably already know if we should even consider it, or walk on by.
If this is a "don't even look twice at this" piece, can you steer us towards a smaller chair that also has a higher back for head support? Also, it can't have the puffy pillows (traditional recliner look) nor the lever handle. We're after a chair look that morphs into a recliner when nobody's looking! lol.
Thanks!
Hooker is 100% made in China, and they use plywood frames on their recliners. Other than that, I can't really attest to how well they hold up one way or the other, I haven't had much feedback from customers on them.
Here's the two best small recliners I've ever come across, the 297 in particular was designed with ladies in mind. I always keep one on the floor, its a top seller for those of smaller stature. Price range on these are generally $ 1,300 to $ 1,800 depending on how exotic the leather.
