Default H&M sleeper sofa on Craigslist - opinion wanted

Hey guys, and Duane - I check CL every so often looking for a H&M loveseat or chair and I see someone is selling a tufted leather sleeper sofa. News to me since I didn't even know H&M made sleeper sofas!

What do you guys think, both about condition and price? Also I wonder which set of pictures shows the true color more accurately:

The photos are so distant, it's difficult to see the actual condition. Could you email the seller and ask for close-up photos and how old it is? Seems kind of expensive to me, but I'm just guessing.

I like it much better at 600.00 At 950.00 it seems like someone is trying to make a very nice profit.

You won't find anything new at that price anywhere close to the quality if it is in excellent shape as advertised. I would start with a lower offer, but if they won't budge it's still a great value.

As for the color, if it is blueish/steely grey, the first set of pictures is much more accurate for color.

That looks in excellent condition. Even at $ 950 you can't go wrong. Take $ 750 in cash and a truck/helper with you and you'll own it.

Thanks for all of the replies guys! I emailed the person and they said the darker more blue photos are more accurate, which is good for me. I am going to take a look at it this afternoon.

I bought it! It looked pretty good in person, paid a little more than I wanted at $850, but the seller delivered it themselves which saved me the cost and hassle of renting a van so it balanced out well I think. In my house with a lot of light it actually looks darker than the pictures, during the day with natural light it is a dark blue and at night it is almost black. It is in great condition except there is some sun fading on the arms and seat and it needs to be cleaned and conditioned. I need to pick up one of those Leather Magic kits.

The date of manufacture on the sleeper mattress (which was brand new still in plastic!) is 06/1999 so I guess this piece is probably 10 years old. Sitting on it, it still feels brand new, I don't think it saw much use. I will say the sleeper part of the sofa adds a LOT of weight. This thing is pretty heavy, at only 66" it is probably heavier than my full size H&M Evening sofa!

Great news! Hope you'll be posting a pic of it "in place" soon.

Oh yeah, delivery alone is worth $ 100 on a sleeper...

What you will want to do is clip the sample of the leather from the loose flag and send it to Leather Magic and ask them to make you up a Sun Fade kit from it. Will cost you about $ 90 to $ 100. Apply it as per their instructions (use a hair dryer, etc) and you will have to do four to five coats with it on the arms, but it will do a very satisfactory job for you. Seal it in with some of the Protection Cream or Conditioner if they don't include that in the kit.

    Good get.

P.S. I am slowly catching up from the avalanche of emails/PM's etc....bear with me! Will be all caught up in the next 48 hours or so..
