How is inside width determined for an H&M chair?

I am looking at the H&M Wallace chair and the H&M website lists its inside width dimension as only 17 inches. How is that measured? It seems overly narrow to me since my desk chair that I am sitting in now has a seat that is over 20 inches wide.

Would that be the inside width from arm to arm?

Off the top of my head, I'd say that's a mis-print. I've had the Wallace chairs in my store before and I don't recall them being that narrow at all. 17" is VERY narrow. But to answer your questions the measurement is simply taken across the top of the seat cushion.

I was hoping it was a mis-print because I liked the design of the chair but 17 inches is too narrow for that type of chair.

Any idea what the width might be and if you've had that chair in your store, do you have any thoughts on how it sits.

I called H&M to verify, and that's a misprint in the catalog. Its going to be about 19" inside width at the smallest measure. That chair is typically used as sort of a scaled-down Author chair where space is at a premium. I think its a very good sit for its size, but its not for folks that are "broad across the beam" so to speak.

I looked at the Author chair too but proportionally it seems a bit low. I like the height of Wallace but the more generous proportions of Author.

The Author chair is huge, its quite a bit larger than the Wallace.
