Thread: Width of door?

    Default Width of door?

I'm thinking of purchasing the Austin High Back sofa by Hancock and Moore. What is the minimum width that the door way needs to be to get this sofa through?

    Thank you!

    I can get a 8138 into a 33.5" doorway easily enough.

Thank you for the quick reply. I have a 35 inch doorway. It sounds like you have done this a few times.
I also call H&M and they said 36". Thanks again!

I've done it hundreds of times, the 8138 is a top seller. Everything in the H&M line will fit through a 36" doorway, if you call H&M direct they will give you the party line on that, because they say that on every frame - that is why you got that reply from them. Generally its a good idea to work through your selling dealer of choice and not call H&M direct. The selling dealer has the experience that the ladies in customer service (whom I adore) do not. They don't take sofas into homes - we do. Conflicting information will result in confusion as well. Good luck with your purchase.

For those of you with really narrow doors or stairways, you might want to visit the Simplicity Sofas website. Everything the company makes will fit through a 15 inch wide doorway.

    Duane,
Looking at the Campaign, Rugby and Lynne sofas. Our inside doorway measurement is 35".
Any issues getting those thru? Esp if legs may not be removable?

They easily brought the Sundance 4716 through my 35 1/2 inch opening with all the blankets and padding around the sofa. Consequently it looks like the Campaign and Rugby would be no issue. The Lynne is a wider sofa but don't think that would matter unless there is a sharp corner on either side of the opening.

at 35 1/2 " you will be good to go as far as openings for a Sundance. Everything in the line will go through 36" doorway or they will redesign it until it does, Jimmy Moore insists on that parameter and i'm glad he does.
