Just completed this piece made to order and fitted with a secret compartment in addition to what you see here. I designed it based on a customer photo of what they wanted, and John Buchanan built it as a scratch one-off. See those dovetails? That's the way you do them right....those are all hand-cut and properly laid out. Here's a piece that will last for generations....too bad you can't see the base in these photos, we used arched stretcher bases which were quite challenging for John to make.
Price was $ 4,115 as shown, and shipping from VA to NY was appx $ 500 via specialized carrier as I recall.

Beautiful. Great to see craftsmanship still exists at this level....although you do pay for it! Would have be interesting to see the secret compartment....but kinda defeats the purpose then huh?
Only if you intend of breaking and entering...lol
The desk's owner is a forum member, so maybe he will show us with some photos if he wants to share.

That desk is a beautiful work of art.
John Buchanan continues to do beautiful work. I hope his life has been on a more even keel.
John just bought a house an hour away from where he was living, and is a new grandfather, so live IS getting better for him.
