Default H&M sofa, chair & ottoman

    Hi,

I just bought an H&M leather sofa, chair and ottoman from Craigslist for $500. The tag on the sofa reflects that it is Hancock & Moore model #8172, that the leather is "glazed blackberry" and is dated 1988. The chair and ottoman are both marked "Hancock & Moore" and appear to be made with the same leather as the sofa, but are missing the tag with the date, model # and leather type.

The sofa is in near pristine condition and appears completely unused (all items have apparently been tightly wrapped in storage for years). The chair is also in near-new condition, except a slight depression in the seat (although the leather itself appears unworn).

I was curious as to what the actual value might be of the pieces, and whether you were able to identify the chair/ottoman model from the photos. The couch photo isn't very clear, I'm afraid, but the closeup shows how clean and unworn the leather is.

    Thanks so much.

Nice Score! You got all that for $ 500? Those are current models, the Chesterfield Sofa and Richmond chair and ottoman in a GR 2 leather. Fairmarket value from what I can see is closer to $ 2,000 for the group. Brand new replacement about 3x that.

Thanks for responding to my query. Yes, I bought all three pieces for a total of $500. In my ignorance I didn't understand the significance of "Hancock & Moore" when I bought them; I just thought they were pretty and seemed to be good quality. I looked up the maker online when I got home and was very pleasantly surprised. Hooray for dumb, blind luck!

Thanks again for getting back to me!

Consider that one of the great Craigslist scores of all time. I'd have bought it too for $ 500, and given it to my kids for their first apartment!

Thas an excellent score.I bought the exact same items -8172 chesterfield sofa and 2 richmond chairs with an ottoman on criagslist from Chicago area for 2000$ about 5 months ago ,the set had some wear and a small tear in leather on the richmond chair.I did not like how low the sofa sat and sold it again on craigslist for 2000$.
    500 $ is a steal and a wonderful find.CONGRATULATIONS.
