I'm looking at various class 2 protected options for a blue Gordon glider chair, and these are among the likely choices (plus Document). From back-reading I pretty much know where opinion here stands on Document, but am less clear about these other two, in comparison to each other.
I understand Caress is considered to have a rather "monochromatic", matte finish. Is that bad? And that aside, is there any basis to select one vs. the other?
I guess it's just looks, then.
Went to a store today, seeking answers, and saw some samples. Preferred Cavalier. Caress samples had more random lines running through them, hardly seemed "monochromatic" to me. but maybe that term means something else altogether.
But these are just little swatches, what they will look like on a whole chair one would jsut have to imagine.
Caress and Cavalier are both from Chinese tanneries.
Caress is a finished, or painted leather that is very uniform and monochromatic. Its very soft, but has no high or low shadows to it.
Cavalier is a semi-aniline hide with more visual interest and more gloss to the surface topcoat.
