Default Flexsteel blue steel springs repair

I have a Flexsteel accent chair prurchased in the 1970s. The spring unit is the blue steel type. One of the bands has broken where it crosses a brace. Does anyone know if it can be welded back together and be useful for many more years?

The chair is the size I need for my living space and I want to have it reupholstered but I have to solve the spring issue first. If the spring isn't repairable would it be possible to replace it with hand-tied coil springs?

    Thanks for helping!

On a chair that is 40 years old, its not worth getting into high-dollar repairs and certainly not worth trying to re-spring a Flexteel unit, that's not collectible upholstery. You should be able to get it welded easily enough, and then you'll be good to go.
