Freight Delivery Company recommendations

Hi

I am moving to stage 2 of my research - figuring out the company to use if choice given.

it's going to be likely from NC to New England and I will need the type of service that brings it on 2nd floor of the apartment.

I suspect most will be in the $200-300 range, so looking for choices and recommendations... Thanks

What are you moving? Used or new? What's the point of origin, a factory in North Carolina? New England is a lot of states, you have to be more specific. Some haulers avoid Maine and parts of NH and VT.

Let me add specifics.. right now, not moving anything but I want to be prepared as some may require or allow me to use my own company. But, idea would be to move a SOFA, to RI from NC I assume.

Still looking for the actual sofa, my height requirements are making is very difficult.

If you want the cheapest and least reliable service....Valley Transport out of NC. They will eventually get it to you when they feel like it. Alpha Omega is OK if you want mid-price and don't need any customer service (such as 'where is my order?'). Home Furniture Delivery Service is another OK mid-price company but they don't seem to like to pay for damages in my experience. Sun Delivery is the best in the business and most expensive with the shortest time windows. You can also go free agent and try uship.com if you like to roll the dice.

Do any of them actually bring it up on 2nd floor and unbox? It will me important for me to inspect it and take pics where needed if some damage occurs. I was considering uship and few other generic shippers as well. Perhaps someone has experience there

A note to anyone using White Glove delivery - UPS Freight has a new White Glove delivery service. I've used them 3 or 4 times so far without any problems. Pricewise they may not be the least expensive, but they deliver in 4-5 days up to 1500 miles from my factory. (10 - 12 days for cross-country hauls.)
