Wood finish : Lineage. This piece has a customized-detachable base which allows it to fit into narrow doorways. Modified at customer request, upcharge of $ 350 to do so. Has Centering dowels and Screws to hold the base on. Photo is harsh due to being in the truck...sorry.

Love the sofa, wood color and the leather too. I do not remember seeing that at all. Very nice!
The Elle is relatively new, came out Spring 2008. This is the first one I've had come in. It's also in the current Town and Country collection in Weston leather.
Here's a photo of the base when detached for delivery. H&M did more than just make this a simple screw-on base, they put a large dowel pin in every corner, plus six more centering dowels along the base, then all is tightened up with sixteen square-drive wood screws.

Duane, an opportunity to better understand the H&M construction. What are the sizes of the wood members we are looking at? 5/4, 6/4 ...? Also, the wood frame that mates to this and holds the springs, size? special construction? etc?
Now that you're number 2 in Va. your fellow forum members are expecting a little more!!!! LOL!!!!
Seriously, congratulations on becoming number 2, look out Green Front.
Its all solid maple, Larry. I didn't measure it, but its probably mostly 8/4 or 10/4, with screwed and glued corner blocks. I removed the (16) screws and expected the base to wall away from the piece but it didn't - then I realized it had centering pins and dowels. Jimmy Moore did the design on this and as usual, its probably a bit over-built when he does it. He's going to make sure there's no chance of failure though....
Thanks for the pat on the back! I was really surprised by that news. Not bad for what is essentially a 1-man operation, eh? One day I'd love to hire a full-timer to help me (and my back) out....but not in the budget for right now.
