Default Anyone Know about this Chest of Drawers Unusual Shape

    Hi,
This chest was given to me. My wife wants to folk paint it but I do not want to ruin it, if it is something. It appears to be all the same wood. It is hand made. It has no dove tails all drawers are nailed together as is the whole chest. It has visible nail heads in the top and sides. Round heads. The back and drawer bottoms are drawn/Chamfered to fit. The carving at top is done with a chisel and is left rough. It has a unique wide at top narrow bottom Taper. All drawers are compounded to fit this shape.

Paint Away and have fun....that chest is relatively newly made and has no collectible value as its a bit crudely done, missing on several design elements and likely done by an amatuer wookwoorker as a home project. Before you paint it, scuff it down, clean it and make sure its sealed with shellac. By the look of the sapwood and knots, its Cedar and if you don't have it well-sealed the knots will bleed through your new paint job. Good luck

Thanks for the expert opinion. I had not seen a tapered chest like this and wanted to make sure it wasn't something to keep. Cheers and thanks for the advice
