My guys never expect tips, but are always glad to have them. I pay my delivery people enough so they don't need a tip to make good money during the day, and I don't expect customers to tip unless they went above and beyond the call of duty. That would mean deliveries that involve moving your old furniture to another room at your request, having to take doors off hinges, any delivery that is highly difficult and requires more than ten minutes per piece from truck to room, asking them to move that old barbell set from your basement to your garage, and so on.
As to the amount, if you ask for extras, or note that they took particular care not to damage your drywall or furniture on difficult deliveries, it can range from a cold bottle of water to $ 50 per man.
Usually the easy deliveries are the ones that tip. The hard ones, like taking pieces up to a fifth floor apartment with no elevator, are the ones that don't.
