I have a Smith Brothers swivel recliner that I am happy with, although I have not had it for a year yet, and it is not in my primary residence so doesn't get a ton of seat time. It seems solid, well-built, and comfortable.

I think they're definitely a worthy alternative in the BY-level price class. The store where I purchased it also carried BY. I found no difference in comfort, unlike the rest of lines they carry. And, excuse the brief digression, but I absolutely could tell the difference between the SB/BY stuff and their other lines without looking at the tags, which frankly surprised me given my inexperience.

Anyway, back on topic, I would definitely consider Smith Brothers again if I were looking in that price range. There are some interesting trade-offs. For example, they do use coils in the seat deck, even in recliners somehow, but they are drop-in systems with metal fasteners instead of hand tied (not surprising at this price) and the back is sinuous as you mentioned. On the other hand, frames are solid maple compared to BY's laminated hardwood. I also can't identify their recliner mechanism - it has a lever on the side to operate the foot rest. I thought only La-Z-Boy was still doing that. Not sure if that is good or bad - ask me in 20 years I guess.

I'm not sure the sinuous is always all that bad. We have a Lane sectional we have had for 10 years. It is in our living room and has been beat by two adults, 2 kids and a dog and other then some wear on the material the cushions and everything else have held up awesome.

Most furniture made that is mainstream is sinuous springs and its superior to a webbing suspension. 8-way hand-tied will always be the gold standard, however.

Missed this thread somehow. It's speaksto where I'm going. But I've visited the B&Y site and can't find this line. Is there something I'm missing? Even punched 9077 into their reference code search and came up no results. Could you provide some guidence.
    Thanks in advance,

Here you go, Frank..its the typical 'Design Your Own' program that most manufacturers offer today. This from the new catalog that came out a few weeks ago....I've not bought this program yet or seen it in person, however I do have pricing for it available.

It's on the website. You just have to go to "Browse Furniture" then "View our Catalogs".

    Thanks Duane,
Actually found a boutique dealer in the area who brought out the new book and we browsed through. The Armando had the bussle back we prefer. Head angle and support while half reclined is a priorty. So since we're only 3hrs from Hickory we will be making a day trip to Southland to demo the seating. I will let you know how it goes if your interested. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.
    Regards,
    Frank
