Hello. New to this site/forum. I have a 7 year old Hancock & Moore leather sofa. Dempsey model, class 2 protected Cavalier Mocha. I have never done a thing to it. Like nothing at all (not even a damp cloth). Still looks news. What cleaner/conditioner do I need to use for it? Kit 1?

Well, image if you bought a brand new pair of blue jeans, wore them for 7 years and never put them through the laundry. They would not be very nice or very clean. That's your sofa right now.

Yes, Kit # 1 is correct for Cavalier leather.

    Good Morning,

Want to ensure I am giving my Weston Cane Burnished hide the best life possible. I keep it out of direct sunlight (all windows are low E anyways). Outside of the every 6 month leather leather solutions therapy...what else can I do?

I have read on the blog in various places about a weekly wipe down with a "warm damp" cloth...but is this a good idea for a burnished leather?

I have a pack of the costco microfiber cloths and could have a dedicated one for my chair and ottoman...but want to make sure this is a good idea and clarify "warm damp" which to me would be a soaked towel with water at about 80 degrees that has been subsequently completely wrung out...is that accurate?

    Thanks!

Just a damp cloth wipe down once in a while is good. Room Temp is fine.

I actually prefer the Moore & Giles # 33 Conditioner for Burnished leathers and Pull-ups to the Leather Solutions kit. I used my own cleaner and then apply this using my hand to warm the wax. Note this product does nothing for Finished Leather (painted / protected). This is for pure anilines only. In fact, I just did the Hermes watchband on my Apple watch yesterday with it.

    Glad I asked!

When you say that you use your own cleaner, is that cleaner the cleaner and softener from a #1/2 leather solutions kit and then apply the Moore & Giles #33 afterward?

I also see that Moore & Giles sells a leather cleaner...but that is not something you stock. Leather solutions better bang for your buck there?

    Thanks!

I literally make my own cleaner using one of two options:

    1) Damp (not wet) white washcloth, bar of plain white Ivory Soap. Swipe onto the washcloth (not too much soap) and go over the piece. Then come back and get the soap off again with a damp washcloth.

    2) Spritzer bottle. 2 oz of white vinegar, fill the rest up with water. Spray and rub off with a cloth.

You don't need to buy fancy cleaners, there is nothing better to get the dirt and oils of any leather than the above. Do not saturate! Less is more.

Wow Duane...never fail to impress...Have you ever considered putting your knowledge into a book?

What is the total volume of the spritzer bottle you use? I have some larger ones at 16 oz but I see they can come in smaller sizes like 2 or 5 oz.

    Thanks again!!

Are you saying that you use this on aniline leather only (your solution) or it's okay for protected leather, aniline plus leather too?

Works on all leathers. The key however, is not to saturate. Go easy on the amount of cleaner applied. I do not spray it direct, rather I spray it on my microfiber towel and then use that to clean the leather. Water saturating leather is not good.
