Hello Everyone,
I'm new to the forum and have been doing woodworking as a hobby for the past 10 years. I picked up this book case from a local thrift shop because it caught my eye. It seems to be for the most part made of hardwood with nice inlays on the top. If anyone can tell me what I have or give me a resource to learn more about it, I'd be extremely thankful. Also, on the bottom of the piece, it appears that someone did a little handy work and used a piece of mdf. I was going to switch it out with hard wood but was looking to know more about it before I started taking things apart. I've attached pictures if you're interested. Thanks
I think what you have there is a one-off, whimsical creation by a home hobbyist. A pro woodworker would never use those brass nails to attach the verticals to the shelves. It also lacks design and form, so its just something that someone dreamed up in their garage and put together. It's worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I'd not spend any time trying to restore it myself.
