Duanes' Rating (1 through 5):
Workmanship: 5
Comfort: 5
Leather: 4
Style: 4
Notes: Solid and heavy, built to last, have adequate lifting help to move each section. Exceptionally comfortable in the 'TV position'. Leather is very plush and does not feel over-processed for a protected leather, has no special effects to it by design.

Duane, This is the chair I've been looking at purchasing as a single, debating about getting the traditional rolled arms as shown or the straight arms with cup holders. One question I have is about the footrest. Does this chair have an extension on the footrest that is folded under in the down position similar to the Sundance recliner for example?
Those do not have the articulated extensions. Quite honestly as a single recliner there are better choices from H&M as this suffers from wide gaps in the build due to its design as a modular build. When you see this as a single, its looks 'put together' rather than integrated.

Thanks for the information. I keep running into obstacles when it come to finding the right recliner, especially when you rarely are able sit in one before you buy it. Every recliner but one from H&M is smaller in seat width than stationary chairs. I'm 6'3" and 350+ and the reason I liked the Monterrey was the 26" width. The only recliner close to that is the Rodeo Power Station and I don't like the blocky, boxy design. I was able to sit in the Sundance recliner and thought it was OK and has great detailing for a chair that will float in the room, but I didn't like the relatively narrow arms. Looks like it's that or scrap the recliner and get a chair and ottoman. The Chapparal is big and roomy and I love the design.
Go for the Sundance ...You will love it!
You will be better off with a stationary chair, there are no recliner mechanisms on the market from any maker set up to handle 350 lb +. You would be breaking mechanisms, I'm afraid. If you do go stationary, ask your selling dealer to build in the optional reinforced frame gussets (around $ 100) and get an extra firm seat core (no extra charge).
