Anyone have experience with any of their furniture? World Interiors in Austin is a retailer of them. Their pieces look beautiful, are solid hardwood, and appear to be well made after watching their Youtube videos.

Just a quick look at their website and I can tell you they are imported, probably Vietnam or Malaysia, and they are not mortise and tenon joinery on any of their chairs or tables. That doesn't make them bad - but it doesn't make them good, either.

thx dr collie. here is a bit more about the manufacturer, home trends and design. the furniture is made in india. from the youtube videos, it appears it is "hand made." ive been on the fence between this and kincaid. i really like HTD's traditional offerings vs what kincaid has right now. thanks for your input!

Their videos entitled "Culture of Quality" and "India 2014" did nothing to instill confidence in me that the furniture would be particularly good. In fact, I'm quite surprised they posted them. In one, there are Americans telling Indians how to make furniture and what constitutes an acceptable crack but then they make reference to going home so what happens when the Americans leave? Further, in both videos their facilities appear quite crude and not even fully enclosed so how do they keep dust out of their finishes?
Maybe I'm missing something but given the choice of this or Kincaid, I'd take Kincaid any day of the week.

If you're looking for factory-made furniture, at a mid-range price point, and solid wood specifically, Durham is also an option. They've been in business over 100 years, compared to only a few years for Home Trends, and their furniture is solid wood, usually maple, and made in Ontario, Canada. From what I see in the videos you linked, I would consider it a superior alternative to Home Trends. It isn't the custom, craftsman maker caliber of furniture others will recommend but then I suspect you aren't in the market for that.

That furniture from India is not what we consider 'hand made' in the trade, it's basically a sweat shop in a crude facility using unskilled labor to do rudimentary production work. There is no cabinetry work there, just a slick video. However, I'm sure it doesn't carry a hand-made price tag, either. That doesn't mean it is bad furniture, it just means you should not believe the hype and overpay for what it is.
I went into Durhams showroom at the Market in October...I left pretty quickly! It's not real impressive....

Here's a small shop that builds quality case goods. I would not hesitate to recommend them. They're located in western Kentucky in the town of Auburn.
