Default Aesthetic/structural differences between elliptical & rectangular farmhouse tables?

    Duane,

Other than personal preference, are there any aesthetic, functional, or structural differences between similar sized elliptical and rectangular farmhouse tables? It appears that a 42 x 78 rectangular table will seat six adults and an elliptical table with 46" minor semi-axis x 78" major semi-axis will also seat six adults.

I pasted two examples of tables below.

    Thanks

Not really, its mostly just a personal preference. You get more surface area on a rectangular table and that's about it.
