Swivel vs Stationary

Is there a disadvantage to buying a swivel or swivel rocker vs a stationary chair? I really like the swivel gliders, but I am wondering about the mechanical aspects and how they wear. How about the swivel vs swivel rocker/glider? I am looking at a Smith Brothers.

None to worry about. Swivel bases are very simple affairs and rarely cause any problems no matter who makes the piece. Same with the swivel/glider. I may replace one base every ten years under warranty.
