rug pile

I currently have a large wool tufted rug and it sheds pretty badly, and is itchy to sit on, but I really like the high pile it has. I've been looking at getting a hand knotted rug to replace it, but there doesn't seem to be any that have a high pile to them. Is this not a thing with hand knotted rugs? is there a specific name (or type) I should be looking for? Ideally, I would like a rug that is comfortable and enjoyable to sit on while being durable. I plan to use this with a rug pad, like I use with my current rug.

Every knotted carpet I have seen has been cut down on the pile, depending on the look they are trying to get with the rug. i'm far from an expert on rugs, however.
