    Default 8 way hand tie

I am restoring a late 1800's rocking chair. The 8 way hand tie was falling apart. Will nylon cord work or should I use twine? Thank you kindly

I would not use any cord that would stretch, so that usually rules out twine. I would think nylon, but don't know for sure. If you have to re-tie springs, its a good bet your webbing is shot and you should replace that as well.

Here's a photo of a sofa being 8-way hand-tied at Hancock and Moore last week.
