Default Another Contest! Tell me how.......

......I am able to see that this particular hide is from a certain region. Years of experience have taught me how to pick up on things. How is it I can tell where this leather originated?

The leather itself is Hancock and Moore Juno Oyster.

First one to get the correct answer wins a leather care kit ($ 50 + $ 14 shipping) courtesy of The Keeping Room!

(this contest also posted to The Keeping Room Facebook Page, so the correct answer could arrive their first).

If I learned a couple of things when the top 2-3 percent of hides usually come from Germany and/or Italy the artisan would hand cut and trace each hide. This machine seems to be cutting patterns out of the hide which means they are increasing the yield and lowering the waste of a less expensive hide South America tanned and/or China.

Never mind read contest wrong you must be able to tell by how the grain goes or blemishes. Some countries don't use barb wire some cattle are larger in different countries. You can tell from looking at picture? Interesting.

Yes I can. You'll laugh when I tell you how. Not sure when I should end this one, Monday do the reveal or keep it going?

I know where it is from but not positive how you can tell. Perhaps the lack of wrinkles / pressed flat? My other guess was the shape of the hole but I don't think that is it.

How big the hide is. Skinny cows vs fat cows.

Guessing the location & perhaps size of the “hole” might be the indicator of it’s origin (?)

I think you can tell by its smell - the aroma or scent of the leather.

Vimmi is the winner! Close enough. The "Hole" in the hide identifies this as a South American hide, its where the "hump" is of the animal and is unusable leather, and the tannery cuts it out before shipping to it's customer.

Send me your name and shipping address to keepingroom@gmail.com for your free care kit, Vimmi.
