Default Bradington Young # 611-95 Sofa in Leather 921300-87

A very handsome sofa in a pure aniline pull-up leather, I happen to like the way this one sits - a bit deeper than some, the high back gives excellent support. Model 611-95 "Roe" model. And being a leather aficionado - great, great hide in a classic "British Tan" color, leather 921300-87 GR 3. This is a pull-up, wax and oil leather - it will show color bursts and marks. You can tell its dyed leather rather than painted from the fat wrinkles in the back panels. In fact, I like it so much I am going to order a floor model like this for Spring arrival. B-Y has held price increases better than other lines this past year, this one comes in slightly under $ 4K in this hide.

    Duane,

To me, this leather color and pull up is spot on. I will make a note of it. For reference, are there any H&M leather options that come close to this?

    Thanks,
    William

Hancock and Moore has a new leather that looks like this - only much nicer and more exotic. It's not swatched yet, so other dealers won't have it. It will be called Palma Spice and be a GR 6 It will be introduced at the High Point Market in a few weeks, and I have a Boho Sofa and Boho Chair on order for stock. I do have a cutting in the store on it, and was instrumental in bringing this into the line.

Very nice and could be an alternative to Buckingham Walnut Burnish and Capri Harness.

I’m considering purchasing a BY sofa and loveseat in the aniline plus leather Henry Suntan. Any idea how will that leather performs. I’ve read many complaints of colors rubbing off over fairly short periods of time but the actual leather color is never named. I appreciate any thoughts.

That's because the "names" are not used in Bradington Young leathers, its all digital for reference. The "Henry" series is actually 925700 leathers, then the two dashes following will be the colorway. This is a Semi-Aniline leather, with is a hybrid of a dyed AND pigmented top coat leather.

The color does not "rub off" on leather, it wears away. All pigmented or finished leathers will lose their color coat over time, its simply paint on the hide at the end of the day. It doesn't matter who makes the leather or what tannery it comes from, if the color coat is put on with a spray gun it will eventually come off. How quickly depends on frequency of use, exposure, friction and most importantly - if the hide has been clean and conditioned two to three times per year. Failure to maintain the hide is the # 1 cause of finish loss, it must be cleaned and conditioned to maximize lifespan.

Pure Aniline hides do not lose their color coat, because they are dyed through and through. They can, and will, absorb stains and spills from some liquids and must also be kept clean and conditioned.

The key to longevity of the leather is maintenance. Most dealers will not tell you that, because either they don't want to scare you off the sale, or they simply don't know.
