I have had the best home delivery crews for the past 35 years, men that know how to work and get the job done. But they have been aging out, as have I. At 67 years old, I have worn out my back and knees and the doc says "you have to stop lifting furniture, it's not an option for you unless you want to undergo disc replacements or live in a wheelchair". No thank you.

We have hired three new guys in the past 6 weeks, but they are not working out. They are slow, apathetic, late to work, have those damn hoodies on all the time, and have no idea what the phrase "self-starter" means. I can literally work circles around all three of them, and if the boss is sweating and they are not - something isn't working out. I cannot use them any more, they do not represent The Keeping Room well.

So we are trying again, with new help-wanted ads out. Meanwhile, I have asked my old delivery guys to come back and they agreed for now. It's very frustrating trying to hire good people.
