Default Example of Damage to a carving on an H&M piece

I always believe in showing the good with the bad, and things never go perfectly all the time.

Here's a piece that arrived at my store yesterday and has to go back to Hancock and Moore for repair. You can see the carved rosette is chipped and the finish compromised. The trucking company had collapsed the top of the box and shoved this piece too hard into the load, resulting in the chip.

This is an example of what NOT to accept on delivery, and you don't want to sign for a piece like this. It should be refused upon delivery.

H&M can repair this easily. The carving is not difficult to restore (I could even mange that myself in a hours time) but matching this specialty finish would be nearly impossible - so back it goes! When it comes back to me in about three weeks time, it will be perfect.
