    Default Does this fabric exist?

I am looking for upholstery that
    - Looks and feels like velvet
    - Has a "W" for cleaning code
    - Is durable
    - Resists stains/soiling

    I am considering sofas by
    - Sherrill
    - Smith Brothers
    - Mayo

I have a sample from Smith Brothers Clarity line that might fit, but it's 100% polyester. Any thoughts on polyester?

    Thanks for any ideas.

Schumacher makes Performance Velvets - their fabrics are expensive, but will meet all of your desired specifications. You can go to their website and filter by "Performance Fabric" then by "Cut Velvet" to see available options.

Many of Schumacher's velvets are a cotton-poly blend. Fabrics with natural fibers such as cotton or linen are softer to the touch and will pill less quickly than manmade fabrics such as polyester, so a poly-cotton blend will have more benefits than a 100% polyester fabric.

    Hope this helps!

What you are looking for is a Performance Fabric that feels like Velvet. You can get that from several makers. If you want a really nice one, this one from Schumacher really DOES feel like velvet and is made of silk and cotton. Will not be inexpensive, but probably what I would use if I were buying at the Sherrill level. Note that all silk degrades in direct sunlight.

100% Poiy is very common. It's inexpensive and like all man-made fabrics it will "pill". Plan on buying a pill shaver off Amazon and after using it a few times the pilling will settle down some. It's an OK fabric, no one will mistake it for a fine velvet however.
