Default What to consider when buying a recliner first?

I feel there are many things to consider when buying a recliner or any furniture for that matter. While the price, quality, brand, material, comfort etc. are things to consider, what is the top consideration?

The top thing to look for is the mechanism, because if the mech breaks, the recliner is going to the landfill. Leggett and Platt and Ultra-Mek are the best mechanisms in the industry and made in America. While Ultra-Mek puts a sticker on their metal, L&P often does not. A good store knows what mechs are in their recliners (L&P used green friction washers at each pivot point). Most UM and L&P mechs can be replaced if they fail outside of warranty, most imported mechs cannot be replaced as their are no spare parts in the USA.
