Default Virginia to South Carolina carrier for in-home delivery

One of the biggest challenges in buying furniture from out of area is getting it delivered. We have a lot of very hot deals at The Keeping Room, but then...you have to get them in your home. If you live in Virginia/North Carolina / South Carolina, I can recommend Tobin and his men, they run a large box truck with liftgate and they routinely bring items to my store from the North Carolina manufacturers and do the best job of any shipper I have ever had. For example, when a H&M YM90PR sofa was arriving while I was on vacation (535lb) I told Sarah to have them hold it at the terminal, there is no way she could handle that unit and it needed to wait until I got back. Tobin said "No problem, he would take care of it", and he did that unit all by himself on delivery, into the back of our truck. Let me tell you, 535 lb sofas are TOUGH.

I was chatting with Tobin yesterday while we were unloading several pieces of Hancock and Moore, and he said he would do residential jobs from Northern Virginia down to South Carolina. I have no idea of what he would charge, but I suspect it would be reasonable. If interested, send him an email or call him with the specs of what furniture you want moved to your home.

Wow, 535 lbs. How in the world--I can't imagine?! I zoomed in on your image of the truck to better see the wording, and I noticed the name, Torin Young on the side of the truck. Your post references a "Tobin." Are there 2 people, like a father and son, one is Tobin and one is Torin? Thanks.

Yes, and when the sofa is unboxed, its still 490 lb. That's why I won't sell that unit to many of my clients who want it downstairs in the basement or upstairs into a spare bedroom, they are SO heavy, two men can barely lift one for delivery. We can only go up a few steps and need wide doorways for those pieces, they cannot be pivoted around like many simple sofas.

    Torin is the correct name.

Thank you for responding. God willing, I would like to relocate to the Richmond/Midlothian, VA, area when I fully retire. I make note of your posts that mention The Keeping Room's delivery radius, and now, this new person's delivery route.

I don't want to spend the money transporting my existing furniture to a new location only to find out an item is too big for a room, or doesn't go with the new decor, or whatever. I'll be traveling light. However, everything in your showroom that does not have a "Sold Sign" on it is good to go for purchase--no manufacturing delays.
