Yes I did! In the store and the chandeliers were a-swingin' and all the pictures and artwork on the wall went askew. I thought it was pretty cool actually. First 'real' earthquake I've ever been in. Brought to mind the phrase 'no where to run to, no where to hide'. 5.9 was strong enough, no need to experience any quakes stronger.

Haha! 5.9 is a great size for a beginner. Expect one or two aftershocks in the 3.0 range.
I've experienced many earthquakes as a California native. Richter scale is logarithmic...so as you move up, shaking amplitude increases 10 fold. I was essentially over the epicenter of the 6.7 magnitude Northridge earthquake (the last big Los Angeles shaker) in 1994. Ground shaking was so intense that about half the water from my parents' pool was tossed over the roof of the house, flooding the front yard a little.
I still get chills with that freight train-like sound and the first p-wave that sends everything creaking.
